NSK has commenced the construction of a new European Distribution Centre (EDC) just 4km from the facility’s existing location at Tilburg in the Netherlands. Measuring 17,357m², the site will offer 72% more warehouse space and accommodate 51% more pallets, while shelving and docking space will both be doubled. This investment allows NSK to provide their customers even more reliable and fast deliveries.

Tilburg has been the home of NSK’s EDC for the past 14 years. However, with demand for the company’s products continuing to grow, NSK has taken the decision to relocate to the Vossenberg area of the city, where a new facility will facilitate an expansion in logistics capabilities. Groundworks are finished and construction of the warehouse, which includes a 1900m² mezzanine floor, has now begun. Completion is scheduled for July 2017 and deliveries to customers are expected to commence at the end of August.

With this major investment of close to €17.5 million we are responding to the requirements of the marketplace, which demands high quality products on short lead-time availability.

Michel van Nispen - NSK Europe

There will be more mechanisation at the new site, which in combination with the extra space and optimisation of existing processes, will make our operations more efficient and further improve customer service,” explains Michel van Nispen, Director Supply Chain at NSK Europe. “Ultimately, our new EDC is designed to provide shorter shipping times, as well as increased inventory and product availability for all customers.” The new warehouse will stock industrial and automotive bearings for customers located across Europe, including Russia and Turkey, as well as the Middle East.

“Further investment in IT to manage warehouse and supply chain activities will follow after the relocation. At the new site, our throughput times will further improve due to greater flexibility with stockholding, which will be particularly helpful in target growth sectors such as the industrial and automotive aftermarkets. By enhancing our offering through state-of-the art, comprehensive logistics infrastructure, all NSK customers can benefit from uprated services and knowledgeable support.”

The City of Tilburg, the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency and BOM Foreign Investments supported NSK with this expansion and relocation.
