MM Metal Recycling expands in Moerdijk
Five years after settling in the port of Moerdijk, MM Metal Recycling is expanding. The Dutch subsidiary of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation and Hanwa Co. Ltd. is going to build a new warehouse. The new location of MM Metal Recycling is for the storage of incoming and outgoing loads and will be on a plot of almost 3 hectares.
MM Metal Recycling started in Moerdijk in 2016 as the European collection point for E-scrap, such as printed circuit boards and other parts of discarded electronic devices that contain copper and precious metals. Harald Wagemaker, General Manager in Moerdijk: “The new building should be operational in April 2022. With the expansion, our throughput is expected to increase by 50%. In this way we can conquer the growing E-scrap market in Europe.”
Ferdinand van den Oever, CEO Port of Moerdijk: “We are delighted with the expansion of MM Metal Recycling BV on the Moerdijk port and industrial estate. The company is an important player in the recycling industry, making them a good addition to our industrial complex and the existing recycling and upcycle cluster.”
The Brabant Development Agency (BOM) also supported MM Metal Recycling in this process. Edwin Zonder, Senior Project Manager at BOM, says: “during this process, we maintained close contact with the Port of Moerdijk, the OMWB, the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) in Japan and the company. Collaboration is key, and thanks to this great collaboration and the extensive contact, we have been able to successfully support MM Metal Recycling in expanding their business.
