Medical Alley is an organization in Minnesota that focuses on the development and growth of the medical sector in the region. By working closely with Medical Alley, the Netherlands hopes to benefit from the knowledge and experience of this organization in the field of medical technology, and to work together towards further development and growth of the medical sector in both regions. The trade mission to Minnesota marks the beginning of this intensive collaboration.

Both Minnesota and the Netherlands have a strategic focus on medical devices and possess renowned ecosystems with a high level of expertise and professionals who complement each other. The mission is initiated and organized by the BOM and the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Chicago in collaboration with Oost NL, LIOF, Trade & Innovate NL, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) in close partnership with Medical Alley. The MOU is signed by regional development agencies in the Netherlands (ROMs) to emphasize the national character of this mission and take joint actions as the Netherlands. The parties want to shape the collaboration further with this MOU and set up joint programs in the coming years.

The trade mission to Minnesota, attended by 17 MedTech companies from the Netherlands and American partners, aims to share knowledge, business, and best practices. The initiative aims to strengthen the MedTech hubs in both Minnesota and the Netherlands by working together, inspiring each other, and visiting each other. As part of this trade mission, visits will be made to Philips, Medtronic, and Boston Scientific, companies with a significant footprint in both the Netherlands and Minnesota, who will share their experiences.

Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) are regional drivers of the economy.

They were established at the initiative of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate to solve the economic backwardness of a region. Today, their focus has shifted to strengthening the regional economy in general. They enable entrepreneurs to innovate, invest and internationalize to accelerate their growth, ensuring the sustainable growth of the regional economy and employment.
