fDi: Brabant recognized among European leaders in attracting foreign businesses

This acknowledgment from The Financial Times is internationally seen as proof of a market-oriented internationalization strategy. The Brabant Development Agency (BOM) is responsible for this strategy within the province.
High value companies
In recent years, Brabant has sharpened its internationalization strategy. While the strategy in the past primarily focused on creating jobs and investments (volume), the emphasis now lies on the added value of incoming foreign companies. Incoming companies are expected to contribute to transitions in food, health, energy, or innovative technology, or to strengthen the network of companies in the region. Last year, 70% of ongoing projects were classified as high value. These companies have a high technological character and intend to establish their headquarters or R&D in Brabant. The recent arrivals and investments from Lemken, Mujin Robotics, Hoymiles, and the expansion of MSD Animal Health are notable examples.
Brabant is Bright campaign
Since December 2023, this strategy has been supported by the international campaign of Brabant: ‘Brabant is Bright’. Brabant is Bright – an initiative of Brabant Branding and BOM – serves as the platform for international business in and with the Brabant region. It emphasizes the unique proposition that Brabant offers to (international) companies, the ecosystem of various sectors showcasing the entire value chain from R&D, production to logistics, and the province’s access to the European market. The campaign materials and information on the platform are freely available for use by all partners in Brabant; from regional development agencies, educational institutions to governments and businesses.

Brabant stands out as one of the most innovative, smart, and fast-growing economies in the Netherlands. This is reflected in our strategic approach to attract relevant foreign companies to our province. Being awarded now over a number of subsequent years and achieving the 2nd position for fDi Strategy for our work over 2023 is a strong recognition of our efforts and successful approach that we have engaged in as BOM and all connected partners. Together, we will continue to attract high-value companies and talent, aiming to pave the way for value-driven growth in Brabant, propelling our beautiful region towards a bright and sustainable future
Brigit van Dijk – Van de Reijt, CEO of BOM.
“Brabant has a unique ecosystem with a strong and innovative business community and top-level knowledge institutions. Together with an open culture of innovation, it provides a favorable environment for international companies to establish themselves. In recent years, we have been paying closer attention to foreign companies that add value to Brabant and its ecosystem. We see this second place as confirmation and support to continue on this course,” said Martijn van Gruijthuijsen, Deputy Commissioner for Economy of the Province of Noord-Brabant.
